Altered Landscapes

Part II

- New York City

<< New York Photo Index

Pictures were originally taken in 1982. I was staying for a month by a friend in Brooklyn and I used to go to Manhattan every day and then take snapshots on the road. Never actually liked much the alluring views (which I also took nevertheless) of Rockefeller Plaza or so but the scrabby-look and hyperrealistic views instead.
In 1997, after 15 years those pictures had been taken, I got hold of those slides again and decided to go through some kind of revision, processing images electronically. Original material was just the starting point and nothing more than that.

Digital processing mainly consisted in:- Replication of small picture elements with tiling technique
- Image destructuring done by hand with paint tablet
- 2-3 images overlap with different transparency modes done by working with layers

Pictures were then printed with inkjet printer in 60x80 cm. Size
Some pictures were placed on forex to gain more graphical appeal.
