in norrenico significa "terra
di mezzo", che è lo spazio in cui viviamo, tra il cielo sopra
ed il mondo sotto. Le isole Faroe (che si trovano a nord della Scozia e
vicine alle Shetlands, a sud di Norvegia e Islanda) furono colonizzate
dai norvegesi e conservano anche nella lingua questa origine che ricorda
la lingua antica dell'Edda. I paesaggi di queste isole hanno per me una
grande forza evocativa, la forza del sublime. Non ci sono alberi, solo
acqua, cielo, vento e nuvole ed una luce pallida ma talvolta tagliente
e cristallina. La variabilità continua di luci nuvole e colori dell'Atlantico
danno una grande dinamicità al paesaggio, che muta ininterrottamente
sotto i tuoi occhi. (Se si escludono i giorni di pioggia ininterrotta ...

Midhgardh means "the land in between",
between the realms of above and the underworld. Faroe Islands - north of
Scotland and close to Shetland Islands, south of Iceland and Norway - were
colonized by Norsemen and still witness in language old norse or norrenic,
recalling language of Edda. The countryside is strongly evocative. No trees
at all, grasslands, sea, sky and clouds, wind - strong wind more than breeze,
and a pale light sometimes sharp and crystal clear. Weather extremely changeable
- as in the Atlantic normally is - give dinamics to the landscape - which
changes continuously before your eyes. Not to tell of the rainy days which sometimes seem last forever...
